AI Training Plans for Climbing

Bouldering, lead and hangboard — AI-programmed for your level.

An AI climbing training plan from WoDSmith is a structured program for bouldering and lead that targets your weaknesses directly. The AI programs hangboard periodization with max hangs and repeaters, builds finger strength, body tension and flexibility, and integrates antagonist training for shoulder health. Instead of projecting aimlessly, you get clear training blocks tuned to your level from V3 to V10. You enter your current boulder or lead grade, your goals and available training days, and the system builds a progression up to peaking for a competition or project send. The plan works on web and the iOS app and adapts to your feedback.

How WoDSmith programs it

The programming model cleanly separates strength phases from climbing-specific performance. WoDSmith periodizes the hangboard with max hangs for peak finger strength and repeaters for strength endurance, complemented by body-tension, flexibility and antagonist work such as shoulder health. This builds resilient fingers without risking the typical tendon overuse.

The AI individualizes around your grade, training days and goal — bouldering or lead, competition or project. If you report irritated tendons or fatigue, it lowers hangboard intensity and shifts load. A typical build week combines one max-hangs session, a bouldering session at your limit, a volume or technique session and dedicated antagonist and mobility work. Heading into a competition or send attempt, the system runs a peak in which volume drops and intensity is deliberately kept high.

A typical week

  • Monday — Max hangs on the hangboard plus antagonist training
  • Tuesday — Limit bouldering: projects near your max grade
  • Wednesday — Rest day with mobility and shoulder stability
  • Friday — Repeaters on the hangboard plus volume bouldering
  • Saturday — Lead or technique session with body-tension drills

Who it's for

For climbers from V3 to V10 who want to get stronger in a structured way — boulderers or lead climbers, in build-up or close to competition and project send. Those who want to train finger strength, body tension and shoulder health deliberately gain the most. Less suited for absolute first-time climbers who should learn basic movement and safety first. Available on web and the iOS app with a 7-day free trial.
