AI Training Plans for Swimming

Technique, distance and competition — personalized by AI.

An AI training plan for swimming from WoDSmith is a structured program for technique and distance, covering freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and all strokes. The AI builds technique blocks for every swimming style, plans distance programs from 400 m to over 10 km and combines them with interval and tempo training. Volume, intensity and stroke focus follow your level and your goal — be it competition prep, distance build-up or structured recreational swimming. The swim segment of a triathlon can also be prepared specifically. The race taper is planned automatically, so your form peaks at the right moment.

How WoDSmith programs it

WoDSmith structures swim training around two axes: technique and distance. Technique blocks isolate individual stroke elements through drills, while distance programs build aerobic capacity from shorter pool distances into the open-water range. Interval and tempo sets steer threshold work, and before a competition a deliberate taper reduces volume while preserving intensity.

The AI adapts sets, rest intervals and stroke distribution to your level and goals and responds to your feedback: if you report that breathing limits your freestyle, the system shifts more volume into the relevant technique drills. A typical week holds one pure technique session, one to two interval sets at threshold, one longer distance session for the aerobic base and — for open-water goals — a session with longer, steady segments to train pacing.

A typical week

  • Monday — Technique: freestyle drills for body position and breathing, short fast segments
  • Tuesday — Intervals: 10×100 m at threshold pace with short rest
  • Wednesday — Easy medley session across all strokes plus cooldown
  • Thursday — Distance: continuous 2,000–3,000 m for aerobic base
  • Friday — Tempo set: 5×200 m progressively building, then easy cooldown swim

Who it's for

For beginners building clean technique through to competitive swimmers in a distance or taper block — and for triathletes sharpening their swim segment. Less suited as pure dry-land training; access to a pool or open water is assumed. Available on web and as an iOS app, with a 7-day free trial and no subscription needed to start.
